Today, the Modalis Group unveils its new identity, MODAL Group, and enters a new phase of transformation marked by a series of strategic operations combining investments, external growth, international deployment and reinforcement of railway integration. This evolution aims to reaffirm its positioning, to clarify its integrated model and to acquire a more internationally readable identity in order to accelerate the development of decarbonized multimodal logistics. The MODALIS brand, recognized in its market, remains dedicated to its historical activity of rental equipment for intermodal transport.
Heading for the low-carbon multimodal
The Modalis Group acquires a strong new identity, MODAL Group, which translates and summarizes the integrated model of the actor, while reaffirming its mission: to build an ecosystem at the service of decarbonized multimodal logistics, in France as well as internationally.
In a context where goods transport is one of the main drivers of the climate transition, the objective is clear: to support customers and partners in the energy transition of goods transport, encourage companies to adopt multimodal solutions combining rail, river, sea and road, and massively reduce CO emissions on a global scale.
Targeted investments to structure an integrated model
to support this ambition, MODAL Group announces at the beginning of this year the finalization of several major operations intended to enrich its scope of expertise.
The Group strengthens its international presence with the opening of MODALIS Intermodal in the United Kingdom, to facilitate the rental of intermodal equipment,
as well as with the creation of Air Flow Shanghai Logistics, an entity dedicated to intermodal gas logistics
the air.
Scale up for MODAL Group
MODAL Group today brings together 250 employees, representing 27 nationalities, spread across 8 countries. Its fleet of equipment offered for rent, one of the most diversified on the market, includes 7,000 TEUs (transport units) and 2,000 intermodal wagon platforms, while its turnover in 2025 again exceeds 100 million euros.
This dynamic, driven by customer focus, bold entrepreneurship, open-mindedness, agility and innovation, allows the Group to manage complex and large-scale logistics projects in France and abroad.
Integrate the entire multimodal chain up to rail traction
MODAL Group has chosen to go beyond a single-business approach to allow its customers to control the entire journey of their goods, from the design of logistics and energy infrastructures to their final transport.
The Group is thus involved in the engineering and operation of intermodal sites and terminals, the manufacturing and leasing of intermodal transport units capable of moving from road to rail or ship, and future energy logistics. (in particular hydrogen, captured CO and cryogenics), the high-precision maintenance of this equipment, as well as railway traction, to ensure reliability and continuity of flows.
Strengthen governance to secure the future
To accompany this new phase of development, MODAL Group announces the voluntary establishment of a Board of Directors composed of Bernard Meï, Chairman and Founder of the Group, Pierre Fiat, Chief Executive Officer of Air Flow and four external directors: Sylvie Perrin (De Gaulle Fleurance), Bob Fast (former president of TIP), Simon Hamilton (Chetwode) and Daniel Chapiro (GL Events).
This reinforced governance aims to secure the structuring investments, external growth operations and international development of the Group, based on recognized expertise.
